Scope of practice: ages 16 to over 100. Conditions addressed under the heading of general adult neurology include disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerve and muscle, and the autonomic nervous system. Examples of conditions commonly encountered are Alzheimer disease and other dementias, cerebrovascular disease including strokes and hemorrhages, Parkinson disease and related disorders, tremor, seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, sleep disorders, migraine and other headaches, trigeminal neuralgia, disorders of the spine including impingement of nerve roots in the neck and back, and spinal cord compression, muscle diseases associated with weakness and pain, disorders of the peripheral nerves such as diabetic polyneuropathy, and conditions which affect the regulation of blood pressure, sweating, and bladder and bowel control.
Dr. Lieberman graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1970, and completed his postgraduate training at Boston University Medical Center and affiliated hospitals in 1977, after completing a fellowship in behavioral neurology. He entered private practice in 1977, focusing on the region southwest of the city of Boston, primarily in the Brockton and Norwood areas. He maintained teaching appointments at the medical schools associated with Boston University Medical Center (now Boston Medical Center) and the New England Medical Center (now Tufts Medical Center). He is affiliated with the hospitals local to his private office practice (Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton Hospital, Beth Israel Hospital, Milton), and maintains tertiary care relationships with all the Boston teaching hospitals, most substantially the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
